Across town from last month’s Canary Wharf Winter Lights, the fourth edition of Battersea Power Station’s own Light Festival brings seven colourful pieces of art to the iconic building and its surroundings.
The pieces on display this year are:
- Large Diamond by Freerk Wilbers (Netherlands)
- Singularity by Squidsoup (UK)
- Butterfly Effect by Masamichi Shimada (Japan)
- LightPiano by Arion de Munck and Mark Ridder (Netherlands)
- Lightbattle III by Venividimultiplex (Netherlands)
- Cloudy Lanterns by Mad Rhizome (France)
- C/C by Angela Chong (Singapore)
Singularity was my top pick of the seven, which interestingly was created by the same people as Submergence, one of my favourites in the Canary Wharf festival this year.
There was a three-day overlap between the two festivals and, although this one is smaller in scope, it runs daily (between 8:00 and 23:00) for a whole month, from 25 January to 25 February.
From our experience visiting on a Tuesday evening, and probably due to its extended run, this festival is also a lot less crowded than its counterpart in Canary Wharf, making for a much more leisurely visitor experience.
